Meridian to Attend 2nd Annual Scripp¡¯s Natural Supplements Conference

Along with Dr. Barry Sears and Thorne Research, Inc.

Meridian Co., Ltd. ("Meridian" or the ¡°Company¡±) (OTC BB: MRDAF), is pleased to announce it will be attending the 2nd Annual Scripp¡¯s Natural Supplements Conference from January 7 – 9, 2005, at the Hilton Torrey Pines in La Jolla, California.  The Scripps Center for Integrative Medicine will host this three day conference, which will include more than two dozen nationally renowned medical experts presenting an evidence-based, comprehensive overview of natural supplements to a wide variety of health care providers such as physicians, nurses, pharmacists, dieticians, as well as the general public.

"This conference provides a comprehensive experience for health care providers and others who want to understand nutritional supplements," says Dr. Mimi Guarneri, conference director and founder and medical director of the Scripps Center for Integrative Medicine. "Our goal in creating this conference is to raise awareness of herbal and natural remedies and enhance the credibility of integrative medicine among our peers."

Meridian believes this conference will be an ideal forum to network with wellness practitioners from across the United States and to continue to build relationships within the neutraceutical industry.  Meridian will also have the opportunity to meet with existing client Dr. Barry Sears, renowned research scientist and famed creator of the Zone Diet, as well as with Thorne Research, Inc., who began collaborating with Meridian in 2004 to facilitate clinical studies using the Digital Pulse Analyzer (¡°DPA¡±) as well as including Meridian¡¯s promotional literature with Thorne¡¯s product orders and mail-outs to physicians across North America.

Meridian¡¯s FDA approved, non-invasive DPA is a perfect fit within this setting as it¡¯s a proven method of detecting whether a particular treatment option, such as natural supplementation, is effective.

Americans spend more than $10 billion annually on herbal and dietary supplements. But in today¡¯s highly competitive marketplace a comprehensive supplement in not enough.  You need the technology to prove it!  After a client or patient¡¯s initial screening with the DPA, the client can follow a lifestyle modification program, which can include diet, exercise, supplementation, or pharmaceutical treatment and then re-test 30 to 60 days later to monitor their progress.

The conference faculty includes nationally known speakers, clinicians, authors and researchers such as:

Barry Sears, Ph.D., best selling author, The Zone and The Omega Rx Zone on "The Wellness Zone: Anti-Inflammatory Diet and Strategies for Optimum Health"

David Eisenberg, M.D., professor and researcher, Harvard Medical School on "Prevalence and Patterns of Complementary and Alternative Medicine Use: Focus on Botanicals and Other Dietary Supplements"

Jeffrey Bland, Ph.D., chairman, Institute for Functional Medicine on "The Nutragenomics of the Metabolic Syndrome"

Mark Blumenthal, founder and executive director of the American Botanical Council on "Beyond Ephedra: Natural Supplements in Weight Management"

Steven Pratt, M.D., Scripps ophthalmologist and best-selling author of SuperFoods Rx on "The Role of Anti-Oxidants and Super Nutrients in Health Promotion and Disease Prevention"

Erminia "Mimi" Guarneri, M.D., Cardiologist, founder and medical director of the Scripps Center for Integrative Medicine on "Natural Supplements in Cardiac Care"

Robert Bonakdar, M.D., director of pain management for the Scripps Center for Integrative Medicine on "Natural Supplements in Pain Management

The Company feels that use of the ¡°DPA¡± can help caregivers reduce cardiovascular disease in their patient populations through early detection and prevention, and ultimately assist to decrease the associated financial costs placed on the health care industry.
